(What we do)
We provide services to people between the ages of 13 and 100 +, who are interested in learning new and better ways of interacting with their world. The horses teach each individual exactly what they need to learn about their relationships, communication skills, assertiveness, coping skills and more. They are experts at teaching new and effective ways to approach problem areas that are keeping us from experiencing the best that life has to offer.
The types of sessions we provide are:
- Team-Building Groups
- Personal Growth Groups
We are certified by the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA). We use the EAGALA Model of equine assisted growth and learning, in which all horse/human interactions take place with feet firmly on the ground, and uses a team approach.
The therapy team consists of:
A Horse (or Horses) - whose primary function is to be a horse
An Equine Specialist - chooses the horses to be used in sessions, works with the mental health professional to structure sessions, stays aware of safety and welfare of clients, horses, and team, and makes observations of horses which can bring in potential metaphors.
A Licensed Mental Health Professional - responsible for treatment planning, documentation of clients, and ensuring ethical practice. They build on the equine specialist's observations of the horse, bringing in the metaphoric and therapeutic/learning relevance of the session.
